April Trail Maintenance Day

Earth Day Celebration

Our trail work is scheduled for 12:00 to 4:00 PM. At noon, please join us on the trail for semiannual spring maintenance! Clearing the trails of winter blowdowns and marking trail hazards is the big push during this annual event.

We will meet at noon to start dispatching crews from the Phillips Creek Trail System Parking Area on State Route 244. Our goal is to tackle Trails 1, 2, 3, and the Beginner Trail. Please bring sturdy boots, gloves, loppers and bowsaws if you have them.

There is also a large number of tree limbs at the Stewart Forest Road Parking Area that need to be cut into kindling piles.

If you have the Avenza Map app https://www.avenza.com/download/, download the Phillips Creek/Turnpike/Palmer’s Pond map. https://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/lands_forests_pdf/mappalmerspondphillipscreekturnpike.pdf This will allow you to mark trail hazards instantly if they are too large to tackle. We can inform the Operations Crew at the DEC Forestry Office of heavy work needed and precisely locate it.

Sign up by sending a quick email to impactfriendsgroup@gmail.com and let us know how many are coming with you. Hope to see you there!
